About Us
Founded in 1838 in a humble log house, Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church began with a simple desire—to worship God and follow His leading. Nearly two centuries later, that same spirit remains strong. Today, Pleasant Hope continues to gather in faith, seeking God’s guidance and sharing His love throughout McLean County and beyond.
Though we’re a small church nestled in the rural community just outside Calhoun, we’re known for our big hearts and steadfast commitment to serving others. God has blessed us with countless opportunities to be His hands and feet—to shine His light, offer hope, and meet real needs near and far.
As we look to the future, we believe God still has great plans for Pleasant Hope—to continue being salt and light in this world. If you’re looking for a simple, loving church family where faith feels genuine and community runs deep, we’d love for you to visit. Come join us as we grow together and seek God’s will for what’s ahead.
